COMPLETE HYDRATION
ISO-5 contains the naturally occurring components that medical science recognizes as crucial to the biological balance of hydrating cells.
Water is vital to the body and is recommended as a component to proper hydration. But water alone cannot provide the balance our bodies demand. Homeostasis, cellular fluid balance (interstitial fluid, intracellular fluid and extracellular fluid) is achieved when both water and electrolytes present in adequate concentrations. The electrolytes create a chemical gradient that allows or disallows the movement of fluid from cell to cell and from compartment to compartment.
When the electrolyte concentrations are out of balance and the water content of the cell is diminished or depleted, then water alone cannot restore hydration. It is necessary to restore electrolytes along with the water to re-balance the electrolyte gating mechanisms to allow efficient and effective fluid uptake by the cells.
Feeding your cells with electrolytes will provide proper cellular hydration and will promote a myriad of health benefits including:
- Lubrication of joints and muscles
- Conversion of food into energy
- Formations of protective linings in eyes, nose, air passages and lungs
- Proper muscle contraction
- Mental focus
- Physical performance
- Nervous system function
Medical and scientific research has concluded that the ingestion of fresh young coconut water, a natural refreshing beverage could be used for a whole body rehydration after exercise. Additionally coconut water has been and is still used for IV solution or plasma replacement when plasma resources are scarce. ISO-5 provides all 5 essential electrolytes including about more potassium than a banana.

THE 5 ESSENTIAL ELECTROLYTES PROVIDED IN ISO-5
Sodium is an essential element for life. Sodium ions are used in opposition to potassium ions, to allow build up of electrostatic charge on cell membranes which allows transmission of nerve impulses. Its homeostasis is vital to the normal physiologic function of cells.
Potassium is necessary for the function of all living cells and employs electrical potentials in cells, especially the nervous tissues. Potassium depletion results in various neurological dysfunctions.
Over 300 enzymes require the presence of magnesium ions for their catalytic action. Low levels of magnesium in the body has been associated with the development of a number of human illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
Calcium in the body aids in exocytosis, especially neurotransmitter release, and muscle contraction. In the electrical conduction system of the heart, calcium replaces sodium as the mineral that depolarizes the cell, proliferating the action potential.
The human body needs Chloride for it's metabolism (the process of turning food into energy) while helping keep the body's acid-base balance. The right amount of chloride in the blood is necessary for maintenance of osmotic pressure in the tissues.
DISCOVERY ON THE AMAZON
On one of my global botanical expeditions I found myself in a narrow dugout canoe travelling the Amazon. While searching for Acai up a distant tributary of the Amazon River I was sweating like a gringo and drinking all the fresh water I could get my hands on.
As we sat single file in the canoe one of my Brazilian buddies tapped me on the shoulder and passed a coconut water drink to me. I had never consumed one of these but was reassured by my friends that I needed to drink this to help my condition of profuse sweating and unquenchable thirst.
The taste was not what I had expected. I was prepared for a sugary coconut taste that never arrived. Instead it tasted a little salty with a very smooth and faintly sweet sense about it. The finish was amazingly smooth. Soon after finishing this rather tasteless beverage my thirst was all but resolved and my sweating slowed to a more normal pace.
I was impressed with the remarkable results from the coconut water, so much so that immediately I knew I could flavor it and bring it to market. And after some serious tests and formulations I arrived at what we call Dr. Tim's ISO-5, complete hydration drink. This is an all natural complete hydration drink with half the sugar of existing sports drinks, no high fructose corn syrup and built for those who sweat!"
